Fox Creek beats Midland Valley

Cam Mitchem scored three times as the Fox Creek defeated Midland Valley 26-20 at L.L. Willis Stadium.

Mitchem totaled 88 yards through the air and 77 on the ground.

Fox Creek jumped to a lead as large as 26-7 before Midland Valley scored the game's final 13 points. A 50-yard pass from Mitchem helped set up a short touchdown run midway through the third quarter that kept Fox Creek (3-2) ahead.

Fox Creek (3-2) also got a TD from Chase Chriswell.

North Augusta, Aiken hold spots in football poll

In the South Carolina Prep Media Poll, North Augusta and South Aiken held their spots while Strom Thurmond fell.

North Augusta remained No. 4 and South Aiken stayed at No. 5 in Class AAAA. The Yellow Jackets picked up a 42-14 victory over White Knoll to move to 4-0, while the Thoroughbreds handled Lugoff-Elgin 42-0.

Strom Thurmond fell three spots to No. 7 in Class AAA after losing at Emerald 26-17. Barnwell held at No. 2 in Class AA after beating Swansea 34-14.

Wagener-Salley and Williston-Elko each moved up one spot in Class A. The Eagles are now No. 7 and the Blue Devils are No. 8.

Pacers prevail in PBC opener

In Aiken, USC Aiken opened Peach Belt Conference play with a 3-0 victory over UNC Pembroke on Sept. 19.

The Pacers won the sets 25-11, 25-11 and 25-16 to improve to 9-2 overall. They have won nine in a row.

Julia Forster had nine kills and Emily Teelon added 22 assists.

USCA finishes in tie for 8th place

In Bowling Green, Fla., USC Aiken finished in a tie for eighth in the Griffin Invitational at Streamsong Resort's Blue Course.

The Pacers closed with 7-over-par 295 to finish at 7-over for the 54-hole tournament.

They were led by Johnson Holliday (69-72-70-211), who tied for ninth place.

Pacers make it 10 wins in a row

In St. Augustine, Fla., USC Aiken won its 10th game in a row, stopping Flagler 3-1 in Peach Belt Conference play.

The Pacers, who haven't lost since dropping their first two games of the season, improved to 2-0 in conference play.

Julia Forster's match-high 14 kills and Avery Macklin added 11 kills. Freshman Alie Smith had 10 kills and 13 digs and Emily Teelon had 45 assists to go along with six digs, four kills and four aces.

Ito lifts Pacers in PBC opener

In Aiken, Kento Ito's early goal stood up as the USC Aiken men edged Georgia Southwestern 1-0 in the Peach Belt Conference opener for both teams.

Ito scored at the 22:15 mark of the first half off an assist by Driss Baraket. The Pacers are now 3-2-1, 1-0 PBC.
