Ferris State wins national disc golf championship in North Augusta

Posted: April 18, 2017 - 10:58pm

North Augusta played host to 90 collegiate teams from across the country for the disc golf national championships, a four-day event.

Ferris State shot 7-under-par 58 in the final round Saturday on the Old Glory course to total 687, four shots ahead of Charlotte. Arkansas State finished third at 694, while Wisconsin-Platteville took fourth and Mississippi State rounded out the top five.

Augusta University has won the national championships three times, including last year's, but came up short this year.
There are six courses at the Hippodrome, making it one of the largest, if not the largest, disc golf complexes in the country, according to John Baker, the tournament director.
