The swimming program at North Augusta High had three swimmers sign Nov. 13 on the first day of the early signing period.
Nicole Fuller, Elizabeth Creech and Kelsey Williams will swim at the collegiate level.
Fuller signed with Southern Illinois. She is a multiple state title winner during her high school career, including a Class AAAA state championship in the 500 freestyle in October. She also won two individual Region 5-AAAA events prior to the state meet.
“I’m really excited,” she said. “I’m kind of nervous because it is really far from home, and I am a little bit of a homebody. But with how great I got along with the team, I know it’s going to be like a second family to me.”
Visiting colleges and swim programs became a habit for Fuller during her recruiting process, but she said her final college visit was the one that stuck with her.
“Southern Illinois was my last visit that I had planned out,” she said. “I was excited, but not terribly excited like I had been in my first visits. I went and just loved it. I fell in love with the school, with the team, with the coach, and it just fit.”
Williams will swim for Gardner-Webb. Williams was the top swimmer for the North Augusta squad during her final state meet, finishing first in the 100 freestyle and second in the 50 freestyle. She also won two individual region events to cap her senior year.
Creech will swim for Alderson Broaddus, a school in West Virginia. Creech finished fifth in the 100 freestyle and eighth in the 50 freestyle during her final state meet.
“The high school team actually has been a really good way for the two teams in Augusta, the Aiken-Augusta Swim League and Greater Augusta Swimming, to bond,” Fuller said.
Other North Augusta athletes signing on Wednesday were Ryan Lark and Chaz Davey, who will play baseball at Erskine.
