Cheer squad

The following pupils made the 2013-14 cheerleading squad at North Augusta Middle School: Taylor Adams, Kinsey Amos, Madyson Barnes, Jaelyn Baskett, Audrey Bridges, Maddie Carter, Taylor Cooks, Breanna Davis, McKarti Dorsey, Sydney Echols, Selena Gallegos, Bailey Gray, Sarah Holliday, Khaliyah Holmes, Kathryn McGee, Madison McKenzie, Hannah Taylor Mills, Haley Powell, Baileigh Price, Sarah Ann Tabor, Charity Taylor, Baleigh Warner, Ally Williams and Dayjah Young.

Swim lessons

The Wilson Family Y is offering Saturday swim lessons for ages 3 to 12.

Sessions are held on Saturdays for four weeks in three sessions: Sept. 14 through Oct. 5; Oct. 12 through Nov. 2; and Nov. 9 and 16 and Dec. 7 and 14.

The fee is $28 for members and $43 for nonmembers.

Children can be registered at any Family Y branch or online at thefamilyy.org.

Registration opens

The Thoroughbred Senior Sports Classics will be held Sept. 23 through Oct. 15 throughout Aiken County.

The athletic competition is open to men and women who are at least 50 years old.

There are 15 events including basketball foul-shot shooting, spot shooting, and 3-on-3 competition; softball throw; spin casting; racquetball; 5K race; table tennis; pickleball; tennis; bowling; track and field; horseshoes; and golf.

Registration is $20. Extra fees are required for golf and bowling. Participants will receive a T-shirt and attend an award banquet.
