Race benefits Arts and Heritage Center

The Arts and Heritage Center of North Augusta will have a Spooky Spring 5K on Oct. 27.

The race will begin at 9 a.m. on the Greeneway Trail at Center Street.

Registration forms can be obtained at active.com, artsandheritagecenter.com, Arts and Heritage Center of North Augusta, 100 Georgia Ave., or Fleet Feet Sports in Furys Ferry Station in Augusta.

The fee to register by Oct. 20 is $25 per adult and $15 per student ages 14 to 17. Teams of eight or more can register at a discounted price of $20 per person. The fee includes a Spooky T-shirt and a digital running bib.

The Kids Fun Run is $10 per child ages 13 or younger.

Those registering after Oct. 20 will have to pay a fee of $30 per person and a T-shirt is not guaranteed.

Participants are encouraged to wear costumes. Medals will be awarded for the best times and costumes.

FOOTBALL

• North Augusta Middle School defeated Silver Bluff 26-6 on Thursday. Baron Radcliff and Austin Jones each had a touchdown, Dreke Waltower caught two touchdown passes and Ermon Ishmael tacked on a two-point conversion.

The next game is Sept. 26 at Aiken Middle.

• North Augusta High School beat Grovetown 42-7 on Thursday.

Cheerleaders to be at Wesley Center

The University of South Carolina and University of Georgia cheerleaders, and their mascots, will be at the Wesley Center at Grace United Methodist Church at 11:45 a.m. Oct. 5.

The event is being held as part of Border Bash and includes a hot dog luncheon for $3. Members of The RECing Crew will be special guests at the event, according to a news release.

The event is open to the public.
