North Augusta Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services is partnering with Master Buick GMC to bring the GMC Youth Football program to North Augusta for a third year.
The partnership has been great, said Jeff Williamson, a program coordinator with North Augusta Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services.
GMC donates $500 for the football and cheerleading programs. Parks and recreation also has the chance to earn more for the programs through a fundraiser.
Beginning Sept. 24 with the season kickoff for football, people can purchase $1 raffle tickets.
The ultimate prize for the Southeast is a GMC or Buick vehicle and a local winner will receive a gas grill. In the past two years, the local winner has been from North Augusta, Williamson said.
“All proceeds to that go back into the program,” Williamson said, so it’s a win-win for parks and recreation.
GMC also supplies parks and recreation with items for the football season, such as coolers, T-shirts and coach’s bags.
“They’ve given us a lot,” he said. “We were shocked … they’ve gone above and beyond.”
Raffle tickets can also be purchased at the Riverview Park Activity Center. Winners will be announced in January.
‘‘GMC and youth football. It’s a great combination,” said Stacy Chambers of Master Buick GMC in a news release.
“We are honored to help the children in our community by donating equipment and giving them the opportunity to raise much-needed funds for their league. We are excited to be part of the effort this year, and anticipate a fun-filled season of North Augusta Parks and Recreation football.”
