• Today is an early release day for Aiken County Public Schools.

• The community can provide input on Aiken County Public Schools’ 2014-15 budget at acps.schoolfusion.us.

• The public can review textbooks and instructional materials that have been proposed for use in South Carolina’s public schools through Nov. 15 at the University of South Carolina Aiken in the school of education building room 238D, 471 University Way, Aiken. Instructions on submitting comments are available at the site. The materials will be recommended to the State Board of Education for adoption Dec. 11.

• The South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities is accepting applications through Jan. 8 for its 2014 summer programs and the 2014-15 academic school year. For details and requirements, visit www.scgsah.org.

• The South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics is accepting applications through Feb. 15 for its class of 2016. For details and requirements, visit www.scgssm.org.

• Domino’s Pizza night is Thursday.

• Those interested in volunteering at the school should email BelvederePTO@yahoo.com.

• Seniors are collecting old, used cell phones for a senior fundraiser. Phones can be given to a senior or to Ms. Smith.

• Board of directors meetings are held on the last Monday of the month at 6 p.m. in the Fox Creek conference room.

• The following pupils made the pep squad: Makayla Adams, Brianna Bautista, Nadia Blackwood, Brennley Furness, Elizabeth Ghrist, Abby Gilstrap, Makena Griffis, Carson Kervin, Emily Pearce, Kennedi Sparks, Teresa Thomas and Kyahna Thurmond.

• The following pupils made the Double H Reading Club: Emily Garcia, Collin Anderson, Davis Neal, DJ Williams, Donavon Head, Bo Fuller, Edgar Covarruvias, Shelby Enevoldsen, Savannah Luke, Mark Cash, Audrey McCurry, Harris Doss and Hudson Doss. Pagemasters: Savill Jensen, Makena Griffis and Ms. Mock.

• The SIC/Title I/ Safety meeting will be held Nov. 19 at 12:40 p.m.

• Zaxby's Spirit Night is Nov. 25 from 5 to 8 p.m.

• The school carnival and cookies with Santa event will be held Dec. 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those interested in being a craft or business vendor should contact Leslie Echols at lechols@aiken.k12.sc.us or echols.5@comcast.net with the word "carnival" in the subject line.

• Commemorative bricks for the school’s courtyard walkways can be ordered through Dec. 13. Order forms are available in the school office.

• The fourth grade chorus musical will be held Dec. 16.

• Wife Saver Spirit Night is Dec. 16.

• The nurse needs donations of clean used clothing for the clothes closet. The items will be used in the event of emergencies or accidents.

• For a donation of $15, a new hardcover book will be placed in the school’s library with a bookplate in the front of the book honoring a child or teacher. Gift book donations will be announced during the HHE Morning News Show. Forms are available in the school’s library media center.

• The following pupils were the top 10 sellers in the fall fundraiser: Ethan Spradley, Shelby Watkins, Harper James, Cooper King, Jayden White, Alwyn Lever, Kiara Lee, Barrett Becka, Marcus Snyder and Taylor Boney.

• Volunteer training will be held today at 11:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. No volunteer or chaperone trainings will be offered after Dec. 6.

• Domino's Night is Thursday.

• Spaghetti Night is Nov. 14.

• Zaxby's Night is Nov. 26.

• The Veteran’s Day celebration will be held Friday. A veteran’s museum will be held at the American Legion Post 71. Those who have items they would like displayed should meet Pat Carpenter at the post at 3 p.m. on Thursday. All items must be labeled.

• The Veterans Day program will be held Monday at 9 a.m. in the gym.

• The eighth grade show choir and band will have a Fall Festival on Nov. 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will include a chili cook-off and corn hole tournament. Money raised from the event will go towards the show choir and band trip to Atlanta to perform at the Southern Star Music Festival.

• Catholic Schools Week will be held Jan. 26 through Feb. 1 with daily events at the school.

• The PTO is selling season passes for $20. The passes are good for home football, basketball and volleyball games. Coupons for local businesses are included on the back of each pass.

• There is no school Nov. 27-29 for Thanksgiving.

• The Christmas program will be held Dec. 10. Pieces of fabric sizes one yard or larger and rope are needed for the program. Items can be donated or loaned. Loaned items will be returned in January.
