• Area 2 school board members Keith Liner and Ray Fleming will have a Community Chat at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Nancy Carson Library. An update on the construction at North Augusta High School will be provided. For more information, contact Liner at (803) 279-0238 or Fleming at (803) 279-5001.

• Oct. 2 is an early release day for Aiken County Public Schools.

• College Application Day is Oct. 2 from 9 a.m. to noon in the media center. The event is sponsored by the S.C. Commission on Higher Education.

• The Jostens meeting will be held Oct. 15 from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. in the commons.

• Graduation supplies can be ordered Oct. 22 from noon to 1:15 p.m. in the conference room.

• Fall HSAP will be administered Oct. 22-24.

• Educational Opportunity Day for juniors and seniors is Oct. 31 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the commons.

• Seniors are collecting old, used cell phones for a senior fundraiser. Phones can be given to a senior or to Ms. Smith.

• Board of directors meetings are held on the last Monday of the month at 6 p.m. in the Fox Creek conference room.

• MAP testing ends Friday.

• The Scholastic book fair will be held Oct. 7-11.

• Parent/teacher conference day is Oct. 28. Report cards will be issued on this day.

• Those interested in volunteering at the school must attend a volunteer training session. Contact Cathy Martin or Ordean Crews at (803) 442-6170 for more information.

• The nurse needs donations of clean used clothing for the clothes closet. The items will be used in the event of emergencies or accidents.

• For a donation of $15, a new hardcover book will be placed in the school’s library with a bookplate in the front of the book honoring a child or teacher. Gift book donations will be announced during the HHE Morning News Show. Forms are available in the school’s library media center.

• HHE T-shirts are $12 each. Youth and adult sizes are available. Make checks payable to HHE.

• The PTO fall carnival will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 19.

• The school book fair will be held Oct. 21-25.

• Report card night will be held Oct. 30 from 3:30 to 7 p.m.

• There is no school for students Oct. 31-Nov. 1. These are teacher workdays.

• The school will have a It’s Spooky to be Hungry food drive throughout October.

• Volunteer chaperone trainings will be held Oct. 2 at 11:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m.; Oct. 4 at 7:15 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.; and Oct. 27 at 3:30 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.

• The PTO yard sale will be held Oct. 5 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

• PTO will accept bags of individually wrapped candy for the fall carnival on Oct. 27.

• Zaxby’s night is Oct. 22.

• The fall carnival will be held Oct. 27 from 2 to 5 p.m.

• MAP testing will be administered to first through fifth grades through Friday.

• School T-shirts are $10 each. Order forms are available in the front office.

North Augusta Middle

• MAP testing ends Friday.

• Volunteer training will be held at 2:45 p.m. Friday.

• The Junk In Your Trunk Sale will be held Oct. 5 from 8 to 11 a.m. Vendor fees are $10 for one spot or $15 for two spots. Fees can be paid in cash or a check to NAMS PTO. Vendor forms and fees are due by 2 p.m. Oct. 4. For more information, call (803) 442-6200 during school hours.

• Sponsors and donations for the archery team’s needs are being sought. Needs include equipment, volunteers and financial assistance. Those interested in helping should e-mail Mr. Bartley at the school.

• The Synergistic Lab is in need of paper towels, AA batteries, notebook paper, black medium point Sharpies, vinyl gloves, 9-inch balloons, Elmer Glue All, baby food carrots, wax paper, jars of yeast, packets of ketchup and mustard, and sandwich and snack bags.

• PTO family memberships are $5. Visit the PTO page on the school’s Web site for forms and announcements.

• The NAMS School Improvement Council meets the third Tuesday of each month.

• The second annual OLP Polar Bear Golf Scramble will be held Nov. 2 at Goshen Plantation. There is a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Call (803) 279-8396 ext. 100 for more information.

• Catholic Schools Week will be held Jan. 26 through Feb. 1 with daily events at the school.

• The Mardi Gras Silent Auction will be held March 8 from 7 to 11 p.m. on the school campus. Call (803) 279-8396 ext. 100 for more information.

• The Strawberry Festival will be held April 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the OLP soccer field.

• Volunteer training will be held Friday at 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the media center. Training is mandatory for any parent and grandparent interested in volunteering at the school.

• The PTO is selling season passes for $20. The passes are good for home football, basketball and volleyball games. Coupons for local businesses are included on the back of each pass.

• Progress reports will be available Oct. 4.

• Report cards will be issued Oct. 25.
