Christopher Lamar Robinson of North Augusta graduated Aug. 9 with a bachelor of science degree in genetics from Clemson University.

• Aiken County Public Schools district received two awards associated with its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report: Government Finance Officers Association’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting and the Association of School Business Officials International's Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting.

• Today is an early release day for Aiken County students.

• The annual CSRA College Night will be held Thursday from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the James Brown Arena, 601 Seventh St., Augusta. College representatives will be present to provide information.

• The next Area 2 Advisory Council meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at North Augusta High School.

• MAP testing begins today.

• Domino’s Spirit Night is Thursday.

• McDonald’s Spirit Night is Tuesday.

• Bruster’s Spirit Day is Sept. 24 from 3 to 5 p.m.

• Board of directors meetings are held on the last Monday of the month at 6 p.m. in the Fox Creek conference room.

• MAP testing ends Sept. 27.

• Those interested in volunteering at the school must attend a volunteer training session. Contact Cathy Martin or Ordean Crews at (803) 442-6170 for more information.

• The nurse needs donations of clean, gently used clothing for the clothes closet. The items will be used in the event of emergencies or accidents.

• For a donation of $15, a new hardcover book will be placed in the school’s library with a bookplate in the front of the book honoring a child or teacher. Gift book donations will be announced during the HHE Morning News Show. Forms are available in the school’s library media center.

• Volunteer chaperone training sessions are being held today at 11:30 and 11:45 a.m. and Friday at 7:15 and 7:30 a.m.

Hannah Chastain made the 100 and 200 book clubs.

• The following are new faculty members to the school: Cathy Fox, Michael Zachary, Karen Thompson, Denise Parent, Michelle Bunch and Dani Jenison.

• MAP testing will be administered to first through fifth grades through Sept. 27.

• School T-shirts are $10 each. Order forms are available in the front office.
