North Augusta High School valedictorian Daniel Pippin wanted his class to realize their worth.
“No longer diamonds in the rough but true gems,” he told fellow graduates Friday during the graduation ceremony.
He also urged the class to follow their heart and to “keep that diamond close.”
Pippin was one of more than 300
graduates who receive their diplomas in front of family and friends who gathered at the University of South Carolina Aiken Convocation Center to witness their milestone.
Salutatorian Bailie Sparks used her speech to also encourage fellow classmates.
“I couldn’t be more proud of our class than I already am,” she told the class. “…We always supported each other.”
She went on to reflect on the memories they made over the years as a class and senior moments such as doing their own version of the viral Harlem Shake dance and senior field day.
“Remember, once a Jacket, always a Jacket,” she reminded fellow graduates.
