The annual Teacher Appreciation Banquet was held May 6.
“I think everybody has worked hard and it’s a chance to relax and celebrate together,” said Sara Brown, a member of the event’s planning committee and special education teacher at Mossy Creek Elementary School.
About 275 faculty and staff members from North Augusta area schools attend the event and enjoyed entertainment, dinner and door prizes. The event was held by the Greater North Augusta Chamber of Commerce.
Aiken County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Beth Everitt and school board members also attended.
“This is a wonderful event,” said Everitt. “A small thank you means a lot. They put in a lot of work behind the scenes and it’s great to celebrate them.”
School board member Ray Fleming agreed.
“I think too often we don’t take time to thank and recognize each other,” he said. “We recognize how much our schools do for our children and want to say ‘thank you’.”
