Merriwether Community Coalition meeting

The Merriwether Community Coalition will meet at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 22 in the cafeteria at Merriwether Elementary School.

"The purpose of this meeting is to inform citizens about issues that affect our community," according to a news release. "Education has always been an important factor whether we have children in the educational system, are seeking higher education, retraining, continuing education or simply live and work in the community."

The meeting will discuss the types of education offered in the community and the vision for the future.

Mike Rosier, former editor of The Citizen News, will be the moderator. Participating panelists include: Genia Blackwell, Edgefield County Council and vice chairman; Greg Anderson, superintendent of the Edgefield County Board of Education; Brad Covar, chairman of the Edgefield County Board of Education; Tim Murph, principal of Fox Creek High School; William Smith, assistant principal of Merriwether Middle School; Tracy Walsh, homeschool coordinator; Rusty Denning, associate vice president of continuing education and economic development at Piedmont Technical College; Jennifer Wilbanks, dean of county centers at Piedmont Technical College; and Will Williams, director of Aiken/Edgefield County Economic Development Partnership.
