When talking about the house fire that destroyed their home, belongings and even claimed the lives of two beloved pets, the Selman family is not counting their losses, only their blessings. And for Lori, John and their son J.T., those blessings came to them in the form of first responders.
According to manger Linda Glasscock, four calls regarding copperheads in residential areas have been reported in the county already this year. The most recent call was from a Martinez homeowner in the Maple Creek subdivision off of Columbia Road.

When I learned about the drowning death of Greenbrier High School sophomore Robert D. Ballard Jr., I wanted to hug my children even harder. This is tough news to hear, especially of such a talented, well-loved athlete like Robert.
Over the next few weeks, Blume will play host to a couple of fundraising events in the area. First, on Saturday, April 30, his team will host a Corn Hole Tournament from noon to 6 p.m. at Southbound Smokehouse (1855 Central Ave., Augusta).
