Dear Lord I know I'm selfish
For I want things done my way
And now on bended knees I'm pleading
Lord teach me how to pray
And teach me Lord that you know best
The paths I need to trod
For I am only human
And you're All Mighty God
Lord teach me how to be at peace
As I say, Thy will be done
For you're the great Creator
Of earth and sky and sun
Dear Lord there's trouble all about
And the world has turned away
From all you tried to teach us
Lord teach me how to pray
So much Dear Lord is changing
But your word says you're the same
As in the past when men of faith
Cried out and called your name
Let me pray for all my brethren
Whether near or far away
Lord hear this sinner's pleading
Lord teach me how to pray
