- Wednesday is early release for Aiken County schools.
- A parent workshop will be Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. at the North Augusta High School auditorium. The event will feature Aiken County's associate superintendent for instruction, Dr. Kevin O'Gorman; Dr. Alex Mabe, a clinical psychologist for the Medical College of Georgia; and Jamie Murphy, who facilitates The Parent Project classes at Immanuel Baptist Church. The free event is sponsored by Area 2 guidance counselors.
- Parents interested in receiving Christmas assistance with food and/or toys from the Salvation Army need to sign up by Saturday at 1384 Greene St. in Augusta.
Belvedere Elementary
- Ice cream is sold each Friday for $1 and popcorn for 50 cents.

Merriwether Elementary

Mossy Creek Elementary
- Chick-fil-A biscuit sales will be held the last Thursday of each month, beginning at 6:45 a.m. Biscuits are one for $3 or two for $5.
- The School Improvement Council meets at 5:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month prior to the PTO board meetings.
- Popcorn and drinks are sold every Wednesday for 50 cents. Ice cream is sold on Fridays for 75 cents.
- Parents interested in joining PTO should send the $5 membership fee in a sealed envelope with their name and their child's name written on the envelope. For joining, parents receive a free car line sign, a popcorn pass and carnival tickets. The classes in each grade level with the highest number of PTO memberships will win ice cream.
- The student council is selling Captain D's coupon books for $5 each.
- The school would like to recognize Sara Ratcliffe , reading intervention teacher, for being selected as a Distinguished Teacher of Reading by the Aiken County Reading Association.
- All Aiken County second graders will be taking the ITBS test Thursday through Tuesday. Please make sure to have your child present and on time. Testing begins at 8 a.m. each day.
- The student council will collect new, unwrapped toys for Toys For Tots through Nov. 26. Donation boxes are located throughout the school.
North Augusta Elementary
- Ribbon ceremonies will be held today at 8 a.m. for grades K-2 and 9 a.m. for third-fifth grade.

- A mini-museum to celebrate Veteran's Day will be setup Tuesday. The school is collecting memorabilia for the museum, with the exception of weapons. Anyone who would like to donate an item should bring it to the school at 3 p.m. Monday.
- The school has received the Healthy School Award. The award was given based on three components: health and safety policies and environment; nutrition services; and counseling, psychological and social services. Contributing programs at the school include the Dolphin Dash Running Club, the Walk and Talk Club, Nutrition Week, Jump Rope For Heart, Family Fun Nights and a nutrition assembly.
North Augusta High
- Dual/concurrent enrollment courses will be available at Aiken Technical College and the University of South Carolina Aiken in January. Courses will be available in the summer of 2010 and next school year. Registration for January classes begins in November. Students must pay for the classes. - Ad packets for parents of eighth graders will be sent home soon. Please look at the packet and call the office with any questions. All ads must be paid for by the due date in the packet. We have had a lot from fifth grade and middle school, but we need them from other classes.
- The school will collect non-perishable food for CMONA. The class with the highest percentage of items donated will receive an ice-cream party. Please bring items to homeroom classes through Nov. 20.
- A semi-annual yard sale will be held Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers are needed.
Paul Knox Middle
- Ice cream will be sold every Friday for $1. Mr. Murphy will randomly hand out free ice-cream passes to students wearing red, white and blue on Fridays.
- The PTO has a bin set up in the library for old ink cartridges. Please send in old cartridges from your home or office.
- The PTO will sell pizza for $2 per slice every Friday.
- The PTO is collecting box tops. Please send participating box tops to your child's teacher in an envelope marked PTO Box Tops.
- Tutorial services are extended to all Paul Knox students from 3:30-4 p.m. on the following schedule: Monday--science; Tuesday--social studies; Wednesdays--math; Thursday--English; Friday--exploratory. Parents or guardians must provide transportation.
- The book fair continues through Friday. The fair is open during school hours and parents are welcome.
- The PTO is now partnering with Wife Saver. The school will receive a percentage of all sales on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Be sure to mention Paul Knox Middle School on those days.
- Students can pay $1 and wear a hat today. This is restricted to hats that do not cover the face.
- The PTO will begin selling Arby's roast beef sandwiches for $2 on Thursday.
- The school will honor all veterans Tuesday. The assembly will begin at 10:05 a.m. in the school gymnasium. The Fort Gordon Signal Corps Band and Color Guard will perform. All veterans and their families are invited to attend. For more information, call (803) 442-6300.
- Paul Knox will celebrate National Career Day on Nov. 18. A career speaker will be in every first period class. Our goal is to increase awareness and continue the exploration of the 16 federal career clusters. The theme for this year is "Bridges to a Brighter Future: Inspire Your Career--Empower Your Lives!" Victory Christian Schools
- Students will be charged $3 per tardy after three unexcused tardies in one month's time. Excused tardies include doctor's or dentist's appointments, car trouble, power failure or sickness. Please make sure children are on time to avoid any charges.
- Last year's yearbooks are available for sale in the school office. Shirts, pants and culottes are also available for $2 each.
- The Conservatives in Action Organization is working on tax credits for parents who send their children to Christian schools. Visit www.conservativesact.com.
- Students may wear spirit shirts on Tuesdays and Fridays only. Students may only wear denim (jeans for boys, skirts for girls) on Fridays.
