SPORT: Football

POSITION: Slot receiver, defensive back

AGE: 16

GRADE: 11th

SCHOOL: North Augusta High

STAND-OUT MOMENT: The first touchdown I got against South Aiken. That was pretty big. It was kind of fun, it was my first touchdown ever.

STRENGTHS: I'm very persistent and I'll never give up. You can ask anyone, I'm the most stubborn person on the team.

WEAKNESSES: Doing little things wrong I guess.

GOALS THIS SEASON: Just to take state, that would be good.

COACH'S QUOTE: "Great kid who works and plays very hard. Very valuable to the team. He is also an outstanding student," said Dan Pippin.

Keely Gillespie

SPORT: Volleyball

POSITION: Defensive specialist

AGE: 18

GRADE: 12th

SCHOOL: North Augusta High

STAND-OUT MOMENT: When we played Irmo. The first time we played them we had lost the first two games. We got together and came back and won the last three.

STRENGTHS: I try to be the supportive one. I try to bring people up on the team.

WEAKNESSES: My confidence.

GOALS THIS SEASON: I want to try to win second round playoffs.

COACH'S QUOTE: "She has a lot of energy on the court and is always encouraging her teammates. She is one of the hardest working players on the team," said Marisa Adamson.

Brett Barnhill

SPORT: Football

POSITION: Defensive tackle

AGE: 17

GRADE: 11th

SCHOOL: Fox Creek High

STAND-OUT MOMENT: Fumble recovery against Blackville-Hilda (High).

STRENGTHS: I play hard and don't give up.

WEAKNESSES: Don't know.

GOALS THIS SEASON: Try to make more tackles

COACH'S QUOTE: "Brett had five tackles and one fumble recovery," said Russ Schneider.

Will Mottel

SPORT: Baseball

POSITION: Catcher, short stop, pitcher

AGE: 9

GRADE: Fourth

SCHOOL: Hammond Hills Elementary

STAND-OUT MOMENT: When in the (recreational league) championship game (a few months ago) I got hit in the head and I still threw a shutout.

STRENGTHS: Probably fielding and batting.

WEAKNESSES: Probably pitching.

GOALS THIS SEASON: To get more hits.

COACH'S QUOTE: "Will is a good teammate, very coachable, solid athlete, and always gives 110 percent," said Hank Hammond.

Christina Thomas

SPORT: Swimming

STROKE: Freestyle

AGE: 15

GRADE: 10th

SCHOOL: Fox Creek High

STAND-OUT MOMENT: When I came in first in the 50 (meter) freestyle. I beat my old time by two seconds and came in at 26 (seconds).

STRENGTHS: Being the anchor on a relay.

WEAKNESSES: Definitely, probably the backstroke.

GOALS THIS SEASON: Just improve times and get better and make state next year.

COACH'S QUOTE: "Christina is a very hard worker and talented swimmer. She excels in the freestyle and was the anchor for the girls' relay team all year. What impresses me most about

Christina is her character. She never complains and always brings an uplifting attitude to whoever she is around," said Ian Bramhall.
