Officials have responded to a massive fire at the former Seven Gables Inn in North Augusta.
Flames are engulfing the entire structure, which is located at the corner of Georgia and Butler avenues.
Three fire trucks are at the scene, including an aerial truck spraying water from above.
The structure recently reopened under the name Palmetto House. Galina Terbova, a witness at the scene, said she first noticed flames from the fire about 10 p.m. while at the Jesse Norman Amphitheater.
"It certainly a landmark and one of the first structures in the city," said councilman Arthur Shealy. "It's a loss to North Augusta's architectural history."
