North Augusta principal helps name new state test

Hammond Hill Elementary principal Janet Vaughan was one of two educators that had their suggestion chosen for the new South Carolina standardized test.

Called PASS, or Palmetto Assessment of State Standards, the new test will replace the Palmetto Achievement Challenge Test in May.

Mrs. Vaughan and Penny Tritt from Calhoun Academy in Anderson independently submitted their suggestions, which were used as one of five final names that the public voted on. More than 6,000 votes were cast statewide. Tritt also attended North Augusta schools as a child.
