Artifact stolen from Beech Island Historical Society

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of Indian artifacts from the Beech Island Historical Society.

Late last week, an individual walked into the building through a back door, smashed a glass case and removed an estimated $1,000 in artifacts. Among the items taken were metal buttons from the 1700’s, musket balls, English coins and a variety of arrowheads.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office at (800) 922-9709. Individuals also should call Crimestoppers of the Midlands at (888) – CRIME – SC. Callers can remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward of between $50 and $1000.
