- Summer school is being held at North Augusta High for high school students; ends July 29.
- Keep collecting box tops, Campbell's soup labels, old ink cartridges, etc. for schools during the summer.
- South Carolina Student Loan awards a $1,000 scholarship monthly. Juniors and seniors are eligible to register for the random drawing.
- Firefighter certification programs will be available in the fall at Augusta Technical College. Contact the college for more information at (706) 771-4000.
- The Jared Adamson Basketball Position Camp for post and guards for girls at North Augusta High is today through Friday. Cost is $75.
- The North Augusta Yellow Jacket Tennis Camp will be from 9 a.m. to noon July 28-Aug. 1. North Augusta High coaches Betsy Luquire and Emily Strickland will run the camp with assistance from tennis pro Chris Tully. Cost is $55. - Area II middle and elementary school registration is Aug. 5 from 8 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m., and Aug. 6 from noon to 7 p.m. To register, bring a birth certificate, South Carolina immunization records, Social Security card and proof of residency. North Augusta High registration is Aug. 5 from noon to 7 p.m. Make-up registration will be Aug. 11 from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m.
- Aiken County schools begin class Aug. 18.
- Edgefield County schools begin class Aug. 19. Registration: Merriwether Middle is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 7 for sixth grade and Aug. 8 for seventh-eighth grades; and Fox Creek High is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 11. Open house for Merriwether Elementary kindergarten is 8:30 a.m., and from 9 a.m. to noon first-fifth grades Aug. 17.
