Reviving an old idea, the North Augusta Chamber of Commerce has found that women are enthusiastic about learning and supporting one another.
The chamber will begin the Women in Business series July 9. The program existed many years ago and eventually faded away, said Judy Whaley, the chamber's membership services director.
Wanting to offer a networking system for those in business or wanting to start a business, Whaley and event organizers plan to offer sessions on balancing work and life.
"It's not easy to be an executive and then turn around a be a mommy," Whaley said.
The three-part session will begin next week with a luncheon and speaker Mary Liz Nolan, of Beasley Broadcasting.
"She's a dynamic personality on the radio, and it was decided that she would be great (to) open the sessions," Whaley said.
Members and nonmembers can purchase tickets for $20 or a table of eight for $150. More than 80 seats are already filled, Whaley said. The session will begin at 11:30 a.m.
Reservations are due by Thursday. Contact the chamber at (803) 279-2323.
