Augusta Urban Ministries will hold its annual fundraising Walk for Others on Saturday, April 28, in downtown Augusta. The walk begins and ends at Augusta Urban Ministries’ outreach center at 303 Hale Street (across from the Exchange Club Fairgrounds.) Registration starts at 7:30 AM, and the walk begins at 8:30 AM. Rest stops with snacks and beverages will be provided along the 3 and 5 mile walking routes, which go through the historic Oldetown neighborhood and continue along the Riverwalk.

The Walk for Others began 22 years ago and is AUM’s largest annual fundraiser. In celebration of AUM’s 40th Anniversary this year and to honor those who have “Walked for Others” in the past, AUM hopes to raise $14,000 to support its programs through this event. T-shirts will be awarded to the first 200 participants who raise $25 or more, and trophies will be awarded in group and individual categories. All donations are tax-deductible. Anyone interested in walking or volunteering may obtain pledge envelopes by contacting Augusta Urban Ministries at 706-722-8195.

Augusta Urban Ministries serves homeless and low income persons of all ages with basic living needs ranging from clothing and furniture to Christmas gifts and food.
