SRR awards scholarships

Savannah River Remediation, the liquid waste contractor at Savannah River Site, awarded eight scholarships to children of SRR employees.

At a recent dinner and award reception, the high school seniors each received scholarships of $2,000. They were selected on the basis of leadership, extracurricular involvement, community service, grade point average, and scholastic achievement.

Tom Foster, SRR president and project manager, commended the students for their accomplishments and recognized their parents at the reception.

Recipients of the 2017 SRR Family Scholarships are:

Stephen Gilmartin, son of SRR employee Bob Gilmartin and his wife, Marilyn Gilmartin. Stephen will be attending the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, where he will major in chemical engineering.

Gunner Harris, son of SRR employee David Harris and his wife, Leann Harris. Gunner will be attending the University of South Carolina Aiken and plans to major in engineering.

Brenna Johnson, daughter of SRR employee Amanda Johnson and of Dennis Johnson and Pam Johnson. Brenna will attend East Georgia State College and major in biology with future plans to attend medical school. Brenna will also play softball for East Georgia State College.

Austin Mills, son of SRR employee Jonathan Mills and his wife, Annie Mills. Austin will be attending the University of South Carolina Aiken and plans to major in nursing.

Daniel Morris, son of SRR employee Daniel Morris and his wife, Elizabeth Morris. Daniel will be attending Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina, and plans to major in a pre-law curriculum track such as political science or criminal justice.

Natalie Snyder, daughter of SRR employee Denise Snyder and her husband, Bob Snyder. Natalie will be attending Clemson University and plans to major in nursing.

Beverly Wilkinson, daughter of SRR employee Randall Wilkinson and his wife, Cindy Wilkinson. Beverly will be attending Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and plans to major in recording arts-audio production.

Natalie Franklin, daughter of SRR employee Stephanie Franklin and her husband, the late Victor Franklin. Natalie will be attending the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, and plans to major in biomedical engineering.
