It was a whirlwind 9 months for Heidi Coughenour, who uses the stage name, Heidi Gray.

The 12 year-old North Augustan joined the national tour of Annie in December 2015 just in time for the tour's stop at Augusta's Bell Auditorium in January 2016. She traveled all over the United States and to Singapore and Indonesia, but few locals have had the chance to see her on stage.

Heidi will be performing the Heidi Gray Showcase at 7 p.m., April 28, at Grace United Methodist Church, with proceeds benefiting the North Augusta Cultural Arts Council.

"I'm really excited about it," said Heidi, who will perform about a dozen songs in the program. She'll do one section devoted to Annie and then she'll perform other numbers from other local productions.

All of the numbers will feature costumes and there will be some choreography as well.

Heidi will sing the role of Young Fiona from Shrek and be joined by Alli Dyches and Beth Ann Young to round out the number, I Know It's Today.

Heidi, a former North Augusta Idol winner, has been working to continue her performing dream since returning from Annie. She's auditioned for several other touring shows, but lately her focus has been to try for television and film roles.

"I've been an extra on a set, and I liked the process," she said. "It's so different, but there's nothing really in New York for me right now."

At the end of January, Heidi took part in Broadwaycon and spoke on one of its panels. Broadwaycon is similar to other fan conventions. The focus of Broadwaycon are Broadway plays and performers. Other types of conventions focus on superheroes or fictional characters in science fiction and fantasy.

She's traveled to New York several times over the past month to try out for other plays, according to her mother, Heather Coughenour.

When not auditioning for another role, Heidi has been working on having the life of the average pre-teen such as trying out for the Paul Knox Middle School cheerleading squad.

Tickets for the Heidi Gray Showcase are $12 for adults and $7 for children. They can be bought at the door, or in advance at Parks Pharmacy, the Arts and Heritage Center and online at naartscouncil.com.
