Free water safety course offered

The Family Y of Greater Augusta will have a Swim, Play and Learn Aquatic Safety Habits course during its annual SPLASH week starting Monday and going through May 23.

The week highlights the basics of water safety. The week-long course teaches children ages 3 to 12 about water safety, the dangers near a pool and how to prevent drowning. No swimming or pool experience is required for participants.

The free course is offered in 30-minute slots from 4 to 7:15 p.m.

Children can be registered at the Family Y of Aiken County, 621 Trolley Line Road, Graniteville; Family Y of Downtown Augusta, 945 Broad Street, Augusta; or the Wilson Family Y, 3570 Wheeler Road, Augusta.

SRNS president to return to Flour

Savannah River Nuclear Solutions President and CEO Dwayne Wilson announced May 6 that he will be returning to Flour Corp. for another assignment. The move comes at the request of the company.

Wilson has been with SRNS since 2011. He is expected to remain at SRNS until mid-June.

Exchange program needs host families

Local host families are being sought for exchange students in the World Heritage Student Exchange Program for the 2014-15 school year.

Families, couples and single parents, with or without children, can apply to be hosts.
