Megiddo Dream Station receives Graniteville Award
Megiddo Dream Station has reeived the 2013 Best of Graniteville Award in the employment category from the Graniteville Award Program.
Megiddo Dream Station offers a Work for Success job-training program that combines developing job and personal skills with Bible study, budgeting and communication classes.
Specialty training is also offered in office administration, computer basics, construction, welding, video editing and caregiving.
There is no tuition for the job-training program, but there is a strict attendance policy, a volunteer requirement and students must prepare multiple cover letters, a résumé, a budget and a career plan.
The Graniteville Award Program recognizes the achievements of businesses in the Graniteville area.
Fashion Board seeking members
The Augusta Mall Fashion Board is accepting applications for new members through April 14.
Current high school juniors and seniors are eligible to apply. Those selected will serve as ambassadors for the mall in the community and at mall events. They will also participate in at least two community service projects during their term.

Girl Scouts collecting items for Salvation Army
Aiken Girl Scout Troop 2409 is collecting new and lightly used twin-size bedding and towels for the Salvation Army homeless shelter in Aiken through Feb. 24.
Collection boxes for the Bedding for Bunks project are located at the following Aiken locations: Willcox Inn, 100 Colleton Ave.; Lionel Smith, 132 Laurens St.; and Material Things, 752 Silver Bluff Road.
Bedding for Bunks is part of the troop’s effort to earn the Girl Scouts Bronze Award, a community service effort that requires each girl to work 20 hours. The Bronze Award is the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can receive.

Event to benefit local children
The North Augusta Junior Women’s League will have its third annual Roasting on the River Oyster Roast on March 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. in Boeckh Park.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 the day of the event. Proceeds will go toward meeting children needs in local schools.
Ticket prices include all-you-can-eat oysters and two cocktails. There will also be a cash bar, raffle and silent auction.
