Poetic Praise: A Man Called John

Posted: January 29, 2014 - 12:58pm

There once was a man with a calling

And his calling was ordained by God

For he was called to bear witness

This special man known as John

He began his cry in the wilderness

For the wilderness was his home

There he lived on locust and honey

All knew he was rugged, this one

And he cried out there is one coming

That is called the Savior of Men

Sent from God and called as a sacrifice

Only he can save men from sin

John’s call then was to tell folk of Jesus

And our call now is certainly no less

For if we lead one to know him

Our lives will surely be blessed

So tell them the story of Jesus

How he died on that barren old tree

And cried out “Father forgive them”

And did that for you and me

And tell them the story does not end there

For the chains of death would not hold

For on the third day in that prison

Praise the Lord, heaven shouts, Christ arose
