Poetic Praise: The Promise of Christmas

Posted: December 27, 2013 - 1:09pm

The promise of Christmas, of gifts and those things

Are of very little value when we think of the King

The promise of Christmas with its laughter and mirth

Will fade in the mist when we think of Christ’s birth

And the promise of Christmas with its artificial light

Only light up a corner in the eyes of God’s sight

For the promise of Christmas is the birth of God’s Son

A Savior in a manger, come and worship this one

And the promise of Christmas is that Easter will come

And God’s gift to mankind then will be done

For the promise of Christmas surely would be lost

If He had not come and died on that cross

No gifts could we bring or no songs could we sing

Would be worthy enough to offer our King

So we must bring our hearts and we must offer all

Here am I Oh God when we hear our Lord call

Now the promise of Christmas is for life evermore

For when Jesus came He opened a new door

And so when we say “Merry Christmas” my friend

His promise of Christmas, is for life without end
