Grace United Methodist Church will play host to A Passion Christmas with Brett Younker on Friday.
“Every other year, we do the Return to Bethlehem,” said the church’s associate pastor, Tyler Strange. “In the off year, we want to do something for the community. Our senior pastor wanted to go in a little bit of a different direction and break the mold from what we’ve done before, but have a concert that reflects the direction our worship is going.”
Younker comes out of the Passion City Church in Atlanta. His style is similar to that of Chris Tomlin, said Strange.
“We think we’re very fortunate to have him and offer a concert with him,” he said.
An offering will be collected to benefit children om Cross Connections, a summer Bible program held at Summerfield Park. A portion of the proceeds will help purchase Christmas items for the children and the remainder will go toward the summer program.
“We wanted to be able to support a ministry that is involved with the children of our community,” he said.
Tickets for the concert are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the church office or at www.gotgraceumc.org. The concert begins at 7 p.m. and doors open at 6 p.m.
“This gives families a place to come together, celebrate Jesus and enjoy (the music),” said Strange of the concert.
