Sonya Patton of Savannah River Nuclear Solutions was named the Safety Professional of the Year by the Augusta Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers. Patton is the safety engineer for the National Nuclear Security Administration's Savannah River Tritium Enterprise at the Savannah River Site.

Dealership to participate in fundraiser

Bobby Jones Ford Lincoln is participating in the Lion’s Driven to Give program on Friday to help raise up to $8,000 for the Hale Foundation.

The dealership will donate $20 to the Hale Foundation for every person who test drives an eligible Lincoln vehicle at the dealership between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Money raised from the event will benefit the Hale Foundation’s efforts to help men suffering from addiction to live sober lives by paying for food, medical and utility expenses.

Bobby Jones Ford Lincoln is located at 3480 Wrightsboro Road.

Cookbooks on sale

Public Education Partners have Cooking with Class cookbooks available.

The cookbook is a collection of recipes from Aiken County Public School teachers and staff.

Each cookbook costs $15. Public Education Partners will use the funds to support education initiatives in Aiken County Public Schools.

Operation Christmas Child

Area churches will participate as drop-off and collection centers Monday through Nov. 25 for the annual Operation Christmas Child initative.

Operation Christmas Child provides shoeboxes filled with toys, school supplies, hygiene items and encouraging notes to children overseas.

The North Augusta collection site is Bel-Ridge Baptist Church, 108 Monterey Ave. Collection will begin Monday and continue through Nov. 25. Collection hours are Mondays through Friday from 9 to 11 a.m., Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. to noon and Nov. 24 from 2 to 5 p.m.
