Greeneway named biking destination
Ideal Living Magazine has named the North Augusta Greeneway among the top 15 biking destinations in its fall 2013 edition.
The magazine listed the Greeneway as the No. 5 biking location, according to a news release.
“I was pleased to see the recognition of the North Augusta Greeneway in the fall edition of Ideal Living Magazine,” said North Augusta Mayor Lark Jones in the release.
Library to have book sale
The Friends of the Nancy Carson Library will have its annual Big Book Sale on Friday and Saturday at the Nancy Carson Library in the meeting room.
It will be held from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
Nancy Carson Library is located at 135 Edgefield Road.
Arts and Heritage Center to hold luncheon
The Arts and Heritage Center of North Augusta will host a luncheon presentation by Chef Marcel Biro on Nov. 14 from noon to 2 p.m.
Biro is the head chef at Edgar’s Grille at Goodwill Industries in Augusta. Copies of his cookbook will also be available for purchase and Biro will also personalize them.
Tickets for the luncheon are $12 for Arts and Heritage Center members and $15 for nonmembers. Tickets must be purchased at the Arts and Heritage Center of North Augusta, 100 Georgia Ave., or by calling (803) 441-4380. Seating is limited to the first 40 registrants.
Veterans Day program
The North Augusta Veterans Day program will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Wade Hampton Park on Georgia Avenue.
The ceremony will be conducted by the Jesse C. Lynch Memorial Post 71 of the American Legion. The featured speaker will be Col. Robert L. Edmonson II, the commander of the 35 th Signal Brigade.
The ceremony will also include the Fort Gordon Navy Choir, the North Augusta High School NJROTC drill team, and Post 71’s ceremonial corps.
In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at American Legion Post 71, 333 E. Spring Grove Ave.
