SRNS is finalist

Savannah River Nuclear Solution is one of three finalists for the Project Management of the Year award from the Project Management Institute.

The award “recognizes, honors, and publicizes a successful project and the achievements of the project team for superior performance related to project management,” according to a news release.

The winner of the award will be announced in late October.

Applicants sought

Habitat for Humanity North Augusta is accepting applications for 2014.

Veterans honored

A full military honors funeral was held Friday for seven unclaimed veterans at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia.

The Missing in America Project and legionnaires from American Legion Posts 3, 71 and 193 participated. Post 71 is in North Augusta.

Green school

North Augusta Elementary School is participating in the Go Green Charity Recycling initiative through Monday. The initiative engages organizations in partnerships to help sustain and preserve the environment while contributing to social causes.

Clothing, bedding, blankets, towels and similar items are being collected at the following bin locations: North Augusta Elementary, 400 E. Spring Grove Ave.; Ming Yat Chinese Restaurant, 434 Georgia Ave.; and Gold’s Gym, 101 Edgewood Drive.

The items will be reused or will be made into new materials.
