Grace United Methodist Church will begin offering a Financial Peace University course on Wednesdays starting today through Oct. 30.
“It’s a nine-week class, video-based series. It teaches you how to prioritize and manage your money,” said John Travis who facilitates the local course along with Bob Bigger. The course curriculum was created by author Dave Ramsey. “It’s very comprehensive.”
Each week the course covers a different topic such as budgeting, investments and savings.
The course is useful for people at any stage in their life, said Travis.
“It’s targeted to everybody,” he said, noting that the class attendees in the past have ranged in ages from early 20s to 70s.
The fee for attendees is $89 and includes a kit for the course which comes with audio CDs, a workbook and a book from Ramsey.
Classes are held at 6:15 p.m. and those interested in the course are welcome to visit this evening’s class, said Travis.
“They can come for the first class for free and check it out. If it makes sense to them, they can sign up to continue,” he said.
Scholarship funding is available for the course.
