Shop for a cause

Destiny Leaders, Inc. is one of several area organizations participating in Macy’s eighth annual Shop For a Cause event on Saturday.

Shopping passes can be purchased for $5 from Destiny Leaders until the day of the event. Each shopping pass purchased through the nonprofit will benefit the organization. Destiny Leaders is a North Augusta nonprofit that provides developmental workshops for youth ages 11-18.

On Saturday, pass holders will receive special discounts on most regular, sale and clearance purchases.

Proceeds from passes purchased at Macy’s stores will benefit the March of Dimes. For a complete list of participating organizations, visit shopforacause.macysinc.com.

Graduates set
new record

The class of 2013 set a new record by earning more than $1.15 billion in college scholarships, according to a South Carolina Department of Education news release.

The scholarship totals include lottery scholarships and scholarships received from other sources.

Numbers for local school districts: Aiken County Public Schools, $45,559,718; Edgefield County School District, $3,020,741; and South Carolina Public Charter School District, which includes Fox Creek High School, $5,554,368.

Scholarship totals are reported by the districts.

Meybohm awards

The following were named award winners for Meybohm North Augusta for July:

Donna Joyner, Ginger Davis and Lauren Whitehead, Dream Home Partners, received the Sales Agents of the Month award.

Betty Beard received the Listing Agent of the Month award.
