Miracle Treat Day
Several Dairy Queen restaurants will observe Miracle Treat Day on Thursday.
A portion of the proceeds from every Blizzard sold Thursday will be donated to the Children’s Hospital of Georgia through the Children’s Miracle Network, according to a news release. The proceeds will help fund equipment and technology upgrades at the hospital.
Last year, Miracle Treat Day raised more than $8,600 for the hospital.
Participating restaurants are: 2837 Central Ave., 3102 Peach Orchard Road, 3450 Wrightsboro Road, 3149 Washington Road and 4099 Belair Road in Augusta; 221 S. Liberty Street, Waynesboro; 1234 U.S. Highway 25 North, Millen; 391 South Main Street, Swainsboro; and 205 U.S. Highway 1 Bypass, Louisville.
Workshop for educators
The Watson-Brown Foundation and Monarchs Across Georgia will have a professional development workshop for educators in Georgia and South Carolina on Aug. 23-24.
The workshop will focus on monarch butterflies. Participants will learn to identify common butterflies and how to attract them. Grade-level specific Monarchs & More curriculum, field guides, milkweed seeds or plants, and other resources will also be provided.
The workshop will be held at Watson-Brown Foundation, 310 Tom Watson Way, Thomson, GA from 5-8 p.m. Aug. 23 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 24.
The cost is $75 per person and includes meals, 1 PLU, curriculum and a one-year membership in the Environmental Education Alliance of Georgia.
