The Arts and Heritage Center of North Augusta celebrates its fourth anniversary this weekend with a party and new exhibit.
Birthday Bash! with Blue-grass and Blues will be held Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the municipal building. It will feature performances by Flo Carter, the Savannah River Stringband, the CSRA Shag Club, The Henry’s and singer Ryan Abel. There will also be vignettes performed by local television personalities.
The birthday bash coincides with the center’s new exhibit on the history of entertainment in North Augusta, said executive director Lauren Virgo.
“It pulls together the history of radio, television, sports, entertainment, outdoor venues and ways people had fun in North Augusta,” she said. “We wanted to have things that bring back memories.”
People can see the exhibit during the birthday bash and during the Arts and Heritage Day on Saturday. Saturday’s event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“Each year, we set out to feature one historical topic in North Augusta,” said Virgo.
This year’s exhibit features a Velocipede, a bicycle with a front wheel bigger than its back wheel.
The exhibit will be on display through Sept. 20.
Tickets for the Birthday Bash! with Bluegrass and Blues event are $10 each. Proceeds benefit the Arts and Heritage Center. The Arts and Heritage Day is free.
