Volunteers needed

The Aiken County Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department is looking for summer volunteers for its visitors center. Those interested should contact Sherri Scott, tourism assistant, at (803) 642-7557.

Swimming lessons

The Smith-Hazel Recreation Center pool is offering American Red Cross swimming lessons.

The lessons are offered Monday through Thursday in two-week sessions. Four sessions will be available this summer during the day and evening. Swimming lessons are available for children, adults and those with disabilities. Contact the center at (803) 642-7634 for pricing and more information.

Farmers market

The Edgefield’s Farmers, Artists and Crafts Market is held every Saturday through September from 9 a.m. to
1 p.m. in the Edgefield Town Square.

The market includes local produce, plants and food items. The cost for vendors is $5 per Saturday and set-up is between 8:30 and 9 a.m. For more information, contact Carolyn at (803) 507-0278.

Sidewalk sale set for Weeks Center

The Aiken County Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department will play host to the first sidewalk sale at the H. Odell Weeks Activities Center on Saturday.

Anyone wanting to clear out a closet or a garage is invited to rent a table at the sale. Spaces are available for $15 for a 10x10 table.

Additional tables are available for a fee. The sale will be open to the public from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. or until everything sells.

Proceeds will benefit the Smith-Hazel Seniors. Registration is available at the Weeks Center, 1700 Whiskey Road, or at the Smith-Hazel Recreation Center, 400 Kershaw St. NE.
