The popular Music in the Park series is back for its 17th season.
The series, sponsored by the North Augusta Cultural Arts Council and the city of North Augusta, is held at Maude Edenfield Park at 7 p.m. Thursdays and showcases a different musical group or artist each week.
“We try to have a variety of groups, a variety of musical styles, that way we can interest all age groups,” said Carol Terry, chairwoman of the Music in the Park committee.
This season features returning favorites such as Flashback, which will perform Thursday, as well as performers new to the series such as Keith Gregory.
As a series tradition, winners of the North Augusta Idol will perform June 6. The program will be emceed by saxophonist Fred Williams, who will also perform.
“We usually invite a guest performer to be our emcee and to perform,” said Terry, noting that the chosen emcee is someone the idol winners can look to for encouragement.
The series will end July 25 with a performance by the 246th Army Jazz Band and an art show. Both will be held at Grace United Methodist Church’s Wesley Center.
All concerts are free. For more information about the series, visit www.naarts
