From the innocence of Heaven to the wickedness of earth

The Son of God once came

And he lived his life without any fault

Men turned their heads in deep shame

As he walked among us he taught and he healed

Touched the blind in a way they might see

Men’s eyes were opened to see sin in their lives

That included all, surely me

The hungry were fed; he reached out to the least

And the sick and the weary at heart

And his message was love and he said come to me

For I can give you a new start

He was here for a while and many followed him

For he grew in stature and fame

And it lasted a season and then he was gone

For the innocent lamb was then slain

Evil ruled in men’s hearts and they would not believe

God’s truth again was denied

So they nailed that truth to the old rugged cross

And the lamb was then crucified

But the truth cannot be buried, it will always burst free

Even death cannot conquer God’s will

And because of his victory we too have hope

For the Lamb that was slain still lives
