If you are a Publix shopper you will notice that there are some new things going on there. The first thing I noticed before walking into the doors is the sign welcoming couponers. I think Publix has learned that there are a lot of people who use coupons out there and they need to gear their sales towards helping us out when we are using coupons.
They still have their Advantage Flyers as well as their coupon books, which are available at customer service. You only have to ask for it and they will give you the coupons they have. There is also a standalone coupon rack that is normally by the door when you walk in. This has current coupons that are good at any Publix store. You are free to pick up some of what you want to use that day or to keep for use during another shopping trip. There are plenty of times that these coupons coincide with sales that are going on in the store so you do receive extra savings this way.
There are extra ways to save online as well. When you go online to www.publix.com, there are many options to choose from on the home page. If you click on the link that says “save here” it will take you to another page that has a few things on it. The first is for digital coupons. This is a brand new service that started Tuesday at our local store, but is not available at every Publix store. You start an account using your phone number. When you go on there, you can search through their digital coupons and “upload” them to your account. When you go to the store, you give them your phone number and it will pull up your digital coupons and subtract them from your bill if you have purchased that item. According to the “digital savings hotline” for Publix, when using this feature you can use either the digital coupon or a paper coupon but not both. If you present a paper coupon and have a digital coupon uploaded to your account, the computer will take off the paper coupon and the digital coupon will simply remain on your account for another time. By doing this, you would benefit from printing out a copy of the coupons you have uploaded so you can tell if you will save more with a digital or a paper coupon.
There is also a link to coupons below the digital coupon link. This takes you to a spot to click on the coupons and then print them out afterward. This is a great feature to use as it has a lot of good value coupons that can be used at any Publix store.
Below this link is the Publix coupon policy. I have found is that there are different rules for different areas. The best thing that you can do is to learn the rules for the Publix you shop at most and if you go to one in a different area, ask about their policy before shopping. Our local Publix has a lot of buy one get one free deals. You only need to buy one to get the sale amount which is great if you only have one coupon for that product. You also only need to buy one to get the sale amount on a 10 for $10 deal.
One other great way to save money with Publix is to use a manufacturer coupon along with a Publix coupon. By piggy-backing these coupons you can save a good amount of money. You cannot use two manufacturer coupons or two Publix coupons for the same item but you can use one of each. You may also use a competitor’s coupon at their store. The competitors in our area are Kroger, Bi-Lo and Food Lion. Again, if you shop outside of this area you want to check with that store to see who their competitors are.
As you can see, there are a number of ways to save money at Publix. By putting a little time in planning out what is on sale with the coupons that you have, going by the service desk for the Publix coupon papers, and going online for extra coupons, you could save some big money when shopping there.
