An H&R Block employee found two large holes in the business’s walls when reporting to work Feb. 22.
According to a North Augusta Public Safety incident report, the holes led to neighboring businesses in the 300 block of East Martintown Road. Investigation found that the front door to the Go Wireless Verizon store was pried open and a large hole was made in the wall in an attempt to enter the Merle Norman Cosmetics Studio. A brick wall between the businesses prevented entry. The back door of the China restaurant was entered and a hole was made to go into H&R Block. Another hole was made in H&R Block to gain entry into the Merle Norman store.
Several items were reported missing or damaged in H&R Block, including cabinets, a safe, an overhead light and more than $420 in cash. An unknown amount of quarters “were possibly missing” and cabinets were damaged in Merle Norman Cosmetics Studio. The restaurant’s owner reported damage to items on the floor and about $200 in cash was missing, according to the report.
