Why did you decide to run for election to city council?
“It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do. I just feel that it’s the best way you can serve your community and give back to your community.”
What qualities would you bring to the council?
“Coming from a young family standpoint, I’ll have views looking out for younger families. I’m a man grounded in my faith, so I will base my decisions on my Christian values, and I’m from here, have deep family roots here... I also think that it’s time that some younger people step up in politics.”
What are the most important issues facing North Augusta?
“We got several. We need to make improvements to our education system. I also think that most citizens of North Augusta want what I call quality-of-life businesses – restaurants, shops, entertainment. We got great quality of life through the parks and rec and public safety, but we need quality of life businesses ... I also feel that if we don’t do something about our downtown, we’re going to lose our sense of identity as a city, as a town. Downtown will always be downtown, it’s a major thoroughfare to and from Augusta. The city has made some efforts but we need to spend some more time and energy encouraging the revitalization of downtown.”
