Kids’ Night Out kicks off Friday

A Kids’ Night Out will be held at North Augusta Bible Chapel from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Fridays through March 15.

The free weekly event for children in first through fifth grades will feature games, a light snack, puppets and a Bible message.

The church is located at 1050 Hammond Drive.

Food donations being collected

Southern Wesleyan University is collecting food donations for Feed Seniors Now through Feb. 28.

Donations can be dropped off at the North Augusta location, 802 East Martintown Road, Suite 101. The collections will be distributed through the Golden Harvest Food Bank.

Those who donate a can good will have their application fee waived for one of the university’s adult and graduate studies programs.

Ex-ambassador will address council

Theodore Britton Jr. will be the guest speaker for the Heritage Council of North Augusta’s meeting Tuesday.

The free meeting will be held at 5 p.m. at the North Augusta Community Center. It is open to the public.

Britton will speak about the Montfort Point Marines, the unit he served in during World War II.

He has served in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. In the 1970s, Britton was appointed as an ambassador to Barbados and to Grenada. He also served as special representative to Antigua, Dominica, St. Christopher-Nevis-Anguilla, St. Lucia and St. Vincent.
