Manager attacked after firing worker
A Greg’s Gas Plus employee assaulted a store manager Jan. 10 while he was being terminated for breach of trust.
North Augusta Public Safety was dispatched to the store at 10258 Atomic Road around 7:30 a.m. regarding a breach of trust. When officers entered the store, employee Mario Jermaine Davis ran out of the opposite door and locked himself in of his vehicle. After being repeatedly told to do so by a reporting officer, Davis unlocked his door and was detained while officers determined what happened, according to an incident report.
The store’s general manager and store manager told police that they took Davis to the manager’s office to fire him for stealing money out of the cash registers. The general manager stated that the store’s audit for December showed that about $2,100 was missing from beer, grocery, cigarette and deli sales and that Davis had been voiding sales for miscellaneous purchases and taking the money for the sales from the register.
The store manager said she was standing near the door of the manager’s office when Davis grabbed her right arm and shoved her into a counter in the manager’s office before leaving the office.
Davis, of the 600 Block of Heyward Street in Beech Island, was arrested and charged with assault and battery third degree.
