Hospital limits visits to patients

Georgia Health Sciences Medical Center and Children’s Medical Center is temporarily limiting visits to help prevent the spread of the influenza virus and other respiratory illnesses.

Those ages 17 and younger are restricted from visiting patients in the hospital, and anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms should not visit the centers, according to a news release.

“Influenza has arrived in our area,” said Dr. Peter Rissing, Chief of Infectious Diseases at the medical center. “Unfortunately, the flu is easily spread from person to person. We are trying to protect our patients, families and employees by limiting exposure.”
