Man threatens teen with knife
A 54-year-old Augusta man was arrested and charged with assault and battery second degree after he chased a teen and threatened to kill him.
North Augusta Public Safety was called to the 2000 block of Wren Road around 6 p.m. Nov. 11. When police arrived, the 17-year-old stated that Bradley Ward Slater, of the 2200 block of Bayvale Road in Augusta, who was intoxicated, was angry with him over a financial issue, and Slater said he was going to “gut him like a fish,” according to an incident report.
Slater took a knife from his pocket and chased the teen while threatening to kill him, he told police. When the teen fell into a ditch, Slater got on top of him, placed the knife to his throat and said “it was over now,” the victim told police.
The victim kicked Slater to get him away. Slater’s 17-year-old daughter was able to keep him away until police arrived.
