United Way campaigns
Savannah River Remediation employees pledged and contributed a total of $349,376 during the 2012 United Way Campaign.
Employees were also recognized for their dedication to the campaign. Gail Barker was named Volunteer of the Year; Ted Myers was named Manager of the Year; and Donna Holman received the Presidential Award.
Donnie Thaxton, who was named Coordinator of the Year, will become the company’s 2013 United Way campaign chairman.
Savannah River Nuclear Solutions also recently completed its employee United Way campaign, raising $1.17 million. The company also donated an additional $200,000 as part of a corporate match, according to a news release.
Toys for Tots
Savannah River Remediation hosted a SRR’s Got Talent show on Oct. 25 to benefit the annual Salvation Army and Marine Toys for Tots drive.
More than 150 toys were donated for the drive and $1,057 in cash donations were raised to purchase additional toys.
The show featured 20 acts performed by employees and their family and friends. Winners of the show were: Shane Davis, first place; Robb Underwood, first runner-up; and Fred Williams, second runner-up.
Volunteers are needed to help set up for the annual Christmas in Hopelands event.
A community volunteer day will be held Dec. 3 from 9 to 11 a.m. for volunteers to help install light bulbs along the pathways in the gardens.Volunteers should meet in the courtyard of the Hall of Fame at 9 a.m.
