The Leadership North Augusta Class of 2012 held a dedication ceremony Thursday for a pavilion they built at Creighton Park.
With the help of local businesses and residents, the class was able to provide a shady structure to give park visitors a place to relax.
The shelter was dedicated to the city but it will not be able to be rented out as of now, said Rick Meyer, director of North Augusta Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services. It’s available on a first-come, first-serve basis, he said.
“We’re so grateful to be a part of the North Augusta Leadership program and our parent organization, which is North Augusta 2000,” said Brad Pond, president of the 2012 class. “We appreciate the vision of those people and we’d like to thank them for making today possible.”
Each leadership class chooses a community project. Leadership North Augusta began in 2010 and participants take nearly a year to learn about the city.
The Leadership North Augusta Class of 2013 also was introduced at the dedication ceremony. Members include: Brennan Francois, Austin Taylor, Curtis Holmes, Charles Ryan, Rian True, Kathie Malarkey, Andrea Ellis, Joey Ellenberger, Machela Knox, Michelle Jones, Carie Bugos, Roxanne Paterson and Stephanie Hudlow.
