Man fatally shot at apartment
About 2:45 a.m. Saturday, police responded to a report of a shooting at Ridgeview Manor Apartments on Bradleyville Road. They found Travis Smith, 28, dead of a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
A witness told police that two black men in hoodies approached Smith as he stood outside an apartment with his girlfriend. One of the men fired a shot in Smith’s direction as he and his girlfriend ran inside, according to a statement by North Augusta Public Safety Lt. Tim Thornton.
Smith and his girlfriend were visiting a friend at the apartments.
Public Safety detectives and the State Law Enforcement Division are investigating.
The suspects are described as being more than 6 feet tall and weighing around 160 pounds. They are considered armed and dangerous. One wore a red hoodie and the other a black hoodie.
Detectives have not determined a motive.
