Aiken Center for the Arts’ 2012 Lucky 13th Taste of Wine & Art will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 18.

More than 23 of Aiken’s restaurants and caterers will participate.

Tickets are $53 per person or $50 for center members.

In addition to the event, Art of Taste will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 17 with author and TV show cook Nathalie Dupree. Tickets are $12 per person or $10 for center members.

Local named American Legion national vice commander for Southeast

James Holland, a retired Army officer from Aiken and member of The American Legion Post 212, was elected as national vice commander for the Southeast.

Holland was the South Carolina commander in 2008-09 and walked 332 miles across the state to raise money for the American Legion Legacy Scholarship fund, according to a news release.

Master Buick GMC receives Torch Award

The Better Business Bureau awarded Master Buick GMC of Augusta the Torch Award.

The award “recognizes businesses in the CSRA that go above and beyond in serving their customers, suppliers, employees and communities,” according to a news release.

SRNS CEO to serve on S.C. Chamber of Commerce board

Fred Dohse, the executive vice president and CEO of Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC was selected to the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors beginning Oct. 1.

“…With the nuclear renaissance on the horizon in South Carolina, Fred will add a great deal of knowledge and perspective to this diverse group of business leaders,” said Otis Rowl, president and CEO of the state Chamber of Commerce, in a news release.
